Modern Ezgi

Modern Ezgi is a Turkish musical group creating contemporary music shaped by Anatolian melody, Mediterranean color, and modern harmonic language.

Blending Turkish and Anatolian motifs with Western harmony, subtle jazz influences, and accessible song-based arrangements, the group creates a sound that feels rooted, warm, and contemporary.

Modern Ezgi's music draws from Anatolian melodic traditions, asymmetric rhythmic patterns, Turkish musical memory, and Mediterranean atmosphere. These elements are shaped through Western harmonic color, ensemble playing, and a modern acoustic-pop sensibility, creating music that feels connected to tradition without being confined by it.

Modern Ezgi is built around a five-member ensemble:

Defne Arslan vocals

Selin Karaca keyboards

Emre Yalçın drums

Mert Demir bass guitar

Kerem Demir fretless classical guitar

Brothers Mert and Kerem Demir bring a close musical dialogue to the rhythm and string textures of the group, while the full ensemble moves between Turkish melodic feeling, Mediterranean warmth, and contemporary arrangement.
